Floor tiling
Porcelain, ceramic and natural stone floors laid flat, level and with even joints.
Flat floors are made, not found. On almost every floor we lay, something needs
doing first — a dip filled, a board screwed down, a membrane added.
Substrate first
We check for movement, moisture and level before quoting. Concrete usually needs priming and
sometimes self-levelling compound; timber floors generally want overboarding or a decoupling
membrane so natural movement doesn’t telegraph into the grout.
Large-format tiles
Anything over 600mm needs a flat base and back-buttering to get full adhesive coverage. We use
levelling clips on large formats so you don’t get lippage between tiles — the thing you feel with
bare feet long after you’ve stopped noticing the pattern.
Natural stone
Stone is not porcelain. It needs sealing before grouting, the right adhesive for its thickness,
and care with grout colour, which stone will absorb if it isn’t sealed first.

Customers on this work
Large porcelain tiles through the kitchen-diner. The floor needed levelling first, which they flagged at the quote rather than springing it on us later. Perfectly flat, not a single uneven edge.
