Outdoor porcelain looks superb and lasts decades — if it’s laid on a proper base.
Most failures we’re called out to fix are porcelain spot-bedded on five dabs of mortar.

How it should be laid

A compacted sub-base, then a full mortar bed, with the back of each slab slurry-primed so it
actually bonds to porcelain’s dense surface. Falls of around 1:80 away from the building, and
joints filled with a compound made for porcelain rather than brush-in sand.

Indoor-outdoor continuity

Many ranges come in both 10mm indoor and 20mm outdoor versions of the same tile. Run them through
a set of bifold doors with the levels right and the inside of the house feels twice the size.

What's included

  • 20mm porcelain paving and matching indoor tiles
  • Full mortar bed with slurry primer
  • Falls set away from the house
  • Porcelain-rated jointing compound
  • Steps, thresholds and edge detailing

★★★★★

Patio in grey porcelain running out from the bifolds. Two years on and it still looks new — no movement, no stained joints, water runs away exactly as they said it would.
